Teaching books and manuals, circa 1910-1932
Scope and Contents
This series contains a selection of Sister Ermenilda Fischer's teaching manuals for sewing and cooking classes. It includes a 1923 copy of the book Elements of Costume Design, by Downs and O'Leary, a handmade pattern sampler used as a teaching tool for Sister's sewing students, a handwritten manual entitled, "Menus with Directions for Preparing Meals" for her cooking pupils, and a sewing scrapbook made by student Roberta Scheid Rhue in 1932 under Sister's direction in fulfillment of a class assignment.
