Scope and Contents
Material pertaining to and from Sister Mariella's previous community, the St. Joseph's Monastery of St. Mary's, Pennsylvania, also known as the Benedictine Sisters of Elk County. Includes a handwritten photocopied community history, an announcement of her re-election as Prioress, issues of Like a Mustard Seed, a newsletter begun during Sister's terms as Prioress, and a document with information about the founders and Prioresses published in 2002. St. Joseph's Monastery, the oldest Benedictine convent in the United States, closed in January of 2014, and the Sisters dispersed to various Benedictine communities and assisted living facilities.
