Scope and Contents

This series contains materials related to Sister Judith Beaumont's activism against nuclear armament. Most documents pertain to the "Trident Nein" protests, in which activists broke into the General Dynamics Electric Boat Shipyard and vandalized a Trident nuclear submarine in Groton, Connecticut. Nine of these activists, including Sister Judith, were arrested, charged, and convicted of criminal trespass, mischief, an dother offenses. This series includes photocopies of news articles regarding the protests, various publications and calls to action produced by the protest group, published articles by and about Sister Judith's anti-nuclear weapons activism, and materials from the 1985 Benedictines for Peace meeting, in which an article on disarmament by Sister Judith was discussed.
