Abbey of Monte Cassino papers, 1880-1989
Scope and Contents
The materials in this collection were gathered over the years by Prioresses and archivists and held in the monastery and school libraries as reference materials. Mother Theresa Krug, OSB, whose brother was the abbot of the Abbey of Monte Cassino probably contributed the earliest material. Sister Ignatia O'Connor, OSB gathered some of it for a display at the 1961 centennial of the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago. Sister Vivian Ivantic, OSB continued to add to the collection once it was in the archives.
This collection has guide books, anniversary books, short histories, articles, and images of the communities that provide the roots and offshoot of the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago.
