Federation Social Analysis Committee, 2006-06
Scope and Contents
This book represents the work of the Federation Social Analysis Committee for the Federation of St. Scholastica Chapter of July 2005. It contains the questionnaire, social analysis, and raw data (responses from individual monasteries). The 5 pages of data for the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago is representative of the setting of St. Scholastica Monastery in Chicago, Illinois; it does not include Cañon City, Colorado. Sister Patricia Coughlin, OSB, who served on the committee said that the committee requested data from the main monastery of each community, not for each location where Sisters lived. It provides contextual information for the monastery setting in the early 20th century, looking at the social, economic, cultural, political, and ecclesial setting. Within the social context, it explores how the monastic communities were interacting with the Internet.
