This series contains documents that Sister Mary Benet McKinney OSB created and worked with during her time as prioress of the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago. These documents only pertain to her work as prioress and her role as leader of the monastic community. A large part of this series is a collection of newsletters that Sister Mary Benet McKinney OSB wrote and shared with the monastic community. There is also correspondence that occured between Sister Mary Benet McKinney OSB and individuals outside the monastic community present. This series contains documentation of Sister Mary Benet McKinney OSB's participation in the 1988 Seminar Study Tour of American Benedictine Prioresses, in which she visited Bendictine sites in Europe. Further, this series contains administrative documents from the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago which Sister Mary Benet McKinney OSB played a role in creating and distributing during her time as prioress.

Prioress' papers are a type of community record, which are restricted for 50 years after the end of the prioresses' term. Restricted material in this collection becomes available to researchers on June 30, 2045.
