Biographical / Historical
Sister Mildred Callahan, OSB was born in Palatine, Illinois in February, 1889. Before entering the Benedictine Community she spent one year as a faculty member at St. Scholastica Academy in Canon City, Colorado. She entered the community in 1899. She was finally professed in July, 1904. She celebrated her silver jubilee in July, 1929. Sister Mildred taught at St. Hilary School in Chicago, St. Joseph School in Salida, Colorado. She spent most of her religious life serving at the Academy in Canon City, tending the "minions" the little girls. Sister Mildred died in Chicago on February 11, 1945 at the age of 65. She is buried in Calvary Cemetery.
