This collection contains a personal data sheet, next of kin list, ministry list, and a number of obituaries from various sources, 3 prayer cards, a beautiful funeral homily by Sister Mary Benet McKinney, OSB which discribes a humble hardworking woman who touched the lives of many. Finally, a letter from an alum discribes what Sister Benigna meant to her.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Benigna Bacherle, OSB was born in Germany in 1900. She was educated by the Benedictine nuns of St. Walburg Abbey in Eichstalt, Germany. She came to the United States after World War I. After visiting a friend from Germany, she "fell in love" with the Monastery and entered the Benedictine community in 1925. She was missioned for one year at St. George Convent; the remainder of her life was spent caring for the physical plant of St. Scholastica convent and school. She performed every type of maintenance work, as well as, supervising a maintenance staff of several people. She immediately become "Sister Fix It". Along with enhancing the indoor premises, she spent numerous hours outside planting and harvesting vegetables. She had a special gift with animals; having a dog accompanying her during her active life at the Monastery. She celebrated her Golden Jubilee in 1977 and Diamond Jubilee in 1987. She was featured in a Chicago Sun Times article entitled, "Sister Fix It". Sister was also featured on Harry Porterfield's program, "Someone You Should Know". She touched the lives of many people, young and old, and will always be remembered as humble and hardworking. Sister died on July 31, 1991 after a long illness.
