Historical Note
With an influx of mass media channels since the mid-20th century, the Benedictine community found new ways to spread the Gospel message through stories and events to share their life and work. By creating a Development Office, the prioress had a central location to organize the outreach and recordkeeping needed for fundraising in support of the mission and ministries of the Sisters. In the 21st century, a communications position was added to the department in response to new ways to communicate, especially through the Internet. With the closing of both St. Scholastica Academy in Cañon City, Colorado and St. Scholastica High School in Chicago, Illinois, the Development Office took over coordination of alumnae reunions and services.
