Biographical / Historical
Sister Judith Murphy, OSB was born on August 14, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. She entered the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago on September 14, 1960, became a novice on July 11, 1961, made her first vows on August 16, 1962, and made final vows on August 16, 1967.Sister Jusith earned a BA in Spanish and English from Mundelein College in 1967 and an MA in education from Loyola University in 1979. In Chicago, Sister Judith taught at Queen of All Saints and St. Sympharosa schools ad Saint Scholastica High School wehre she taught and served aas Dean, Principal, and President. In Colorado, she taught at Saint Joseph in Salida and Saint Scholastica Academy in CaƱon City. She was also a consultant on school reform to various schools. She was the founding principal of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago from 1996-2001 and Saint Martin de Porres High School in Waukegan. Sister Judith was prioress of Saint Scholastica Monastery from 2015-2023.
