Biographical / Historical
Sister M. Maura Daubach, OSB was born Eleonora Daubach in Gerolstein, Trier on September 17th, 1893 to Bavarian parents, Nicholas and Jacobine Schuller Daubach. She joined the Benedictines on May 29th, 1883, before making her perpetual profession on July 27th, 1888. Sister Maura was one of the original Sisters missioned to Canon City, Colorado to found the Academy of St. Scholastica. She served as novice mistress, choir nun, and following the blessing of the new West building in 1900, the head of laundry. She died on June 23rd, 1920, at the age of 66 and is buried in Lakeside Cemetery, Canon City, Colorado.
