Sisters' papers are restricted for 50 years after the Sister's death, until August 7th, 2030. Photographs, previously published, and widely distributed materials are unrestricted.
Biographical / Historical
Sister Lioba Deininger, OSB was born Anna, daughter of Franz Xaver and Theresa Deininger, on December 24th, 1900 in Weinberg, Germany. She entered the Abbey of St. Walburg, Eichstatt, as an aspirant to the American missions in 1927 before coming to Chicago to join the Benedictine community. She spent most of her life either at the Chicago priory or at St. Scholastica Academy in Canon City, Colorado. She worked as a housekeeper, baker, kitchen assistant, and in laundry. She was the first to die in the St. Joseph's Court Infirmary on August 7th, 1980 at 79 years old.
