Biographical / Historical
Sister Dorothy Dotterweich, OSB was born Blandina (Blanche) Dotterweich to Bavarian parents in Youngstown, Pennsylvania on April 11th, 1875. She attended SS Benedict and Scholastica Academy in Chicago, where she specialised in art and was an accomplished violinist. Some of her artwork was even included in the 1893 World's Columbian Exhibition in Chicago. She joined the community on October 15th, 1895, making her perpetual vows in 1900. She was the second of three sisters to do so (see Sisters Pauline and Eleanor). Sister died at the age of 27 on September 13th, 1902, and is buired in Calvary Cemetery in Evanston, Illinois.
