Biographical / Historical
Sister Eleanor Dotterweich, OSB was born Barbara Dotterweich on February 24th, 1871 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She joined the community on July 22nd, 1896 following her two sisters Pauline and Dorothy. She made her perpetual vows in 1901. Sister Eleanor taught at SS Benedict and Scholastica Academy on Market Street, and at St. Scholastica Academy on Ridge Boulevard. She taught embroidery, ran the Canon City Academy Glee club, as well as other classes. She also taught at St. Mary's School in Pueblo, Colorado. She sometimes played the mandolin, and had a dry sense of humor. Sister died on October 15th, 1938, at the age of 67 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery of Evanston, Illinois.
