Biographical / Historical
Sister Martha Dusek, OSB was born Anna Dusek on December 18th, 1867 in Bohemia. She joined the community along with her
natural sister Marie (Sister Winifred) on December 7th, 1888. She made her first vows on December 31st, 1890, and her final profession on January 1st, 1894.
Sister Martha is one of ten Sisters who cared for the kitchen and laundry at Saint Bede Monastery and College in Peru, Illinois. She also served as housekeeper and cook for the Saint John Nepomucene Convent in Chicago. Sister Martha died on December 22nd, 1922 at the age of 55, and is buried in Calvary Cemetery. Her natural sister died the folowing year.
