This collection contains general biographical information and personal papers. Personal data includes biographical notes, photocopied vow sheets, a personal data sheet, ministry lists, photographs, worship aids, and next of kin information. Limited personal papers include correspondence, employment contracts, academic transcripts, and news clippings concerning Sister's life in community and her ministries.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Denise Fitzgerald, OSB was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 3rd, 1946. She entered the community on May 5th, 1966, and was invested on July 11th, 1966, recieving the name in religion Sister Brendan. Sister made her final profession on August 8th, 1976. Following Vatican II, Sister reclaimed her baptismal name, becoming Sister Denise.
Sister Denise graduated from Saint Scholastica High School, Chicago before earning her Bachelor of Arts degree from Mundelein College in 1971, and her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Loyola University in 1974. She served as a second grade teacher at Saint Lambert School, and as a social worker for Queen of All Saints, Saint Juliana, and Saint Symphorosa schools. In addition to her work in parochial schools, Sister also served as a psychiatric social worker at the Chicago Alcoholic Treatment Center in Chicago, on the administrative team at Saint Scholastica High School Chicago, as a board member at Saint Scholastica Academy in Canon City, Colorado, and as the director of the guidance department at DeSalle High School. In community, she served as sub-prioress to Sister Mary Benet McKinney from 1990 to 1992, and on the Personnel Board for 1995-1996.
Sister Denise left the community on December 26th, 1999.
