Biographical / Historical

Sister Josephine Godec, OSB was born Rose Godec on August 19th, 1900 in Pueblo, Colorado, the older natural sister of Sister Bernice Godec, OSB. Sister Josephine entered the community on August 8th, 1915, pronouncing her perpetual vows on September 5th, 1921.

She attended St. Mary's Parish School (Pueblo) for her primary education, and continued her education at the Academy of Saint Scholastica and Loyola and DePaul Universities. Sister served as a teacher at Mother of God School in Waukegan, Illinois, at St. Mary's School in Pueblo, and Saint Scholastica Academy Chicago.

She died on June 17th, 1938 at the age of 37, following a long illness. She is buried in Calvary Cemetery.
