Scope and Contents
This collection includes a personal data sheet, personal correspondence, a commencement brochure, a photograph, Reception and Profession Worship Aids, and correspondence and reports regarding Lilac Tree, the center for divorcing women she founded and directed. A highlight is a poem she wrote in 1987 entitled "Stars at Lauds: Kentucky."

Sisters' papers are restricted for 50 years after the Sister's death. Photographs, previously published, and widely distributed materials are unrestricted.
Biographical / Historical
Sister Nan Gold, OSB was born Mary Ann McCollough on April 6th, 1937 in Battle Creek, Michigan. She entered the community on January 9th, 1988 and made her first profession on January 28th, 1990.
Sister graduated from Marygrove College with a BA, received a MA from the University of Michigan, earned a JD from the University of Chicago, and in 1990 graduated from Loyola University with a Master of Pastoral Studies. She served as the Executive Director and founder of The Lilac Tree: Women in Transition, Inc., a center that helps divorcing women adjust to single life.
Sister left the community on January 28th, 1994.
