This collection includes biographical information while Sister Eleanor Conley, OSB was a member of the Benedictine Community. Contained in this collection: a personal data sheet, a next of kin list, ministry lists, transcripts and professional credentials, a letter of recommendation from Sister Dolores Schorsch, OSB, correspondence, mass cards for family members, and two photographs. Sister Eleanor created several spiritual cards for Sister Adelaide Rabida, OSB.

Biographical / Historical

Sister Eleanor Conley, OSB was born Eleanor Mary in Chicago, Illinois on September 20th, 1932. After attending Saint Scholastica High School Chicago, she entered the Benedictine Sisters on September 4th, 1949. Sister was invested on March 19th, 1950, and recieved the name in religion, Sister Cornelia. She made her first vows on March 26th, 1951, and her final profession on June 25th, 1954. Sister reclaimed her baptismal name after Vatican II, becoming Sister Eleanor.

While stationed in Chicago, Sister taught on the elementary school level at Queen of All Saints School, Saint Lambert School, Saint George School, Saint Symphorosa School, and Saint Hilary School. On the secondary level, she taught at Saint Scholastica Academy in Canon City, Colorado from 1963 to 1966.

Sister Eleanor Conley, OSB was dispensed from her vows on October 28, 1970. She died on October 14th, 2019, and is buried in Queen of All Saints Cemetary.
