Biographical / Historical
Sister Rita Cascia Hildenbrand, OSB was born Josepha on January 5th, 1877 in Rauenberg, Baden, Germany. She immigrated to the United States in 1906 with Mother Otilla, joining the St. Mary's Convent in Nauvoo, Illinois. Sister later came to the Chicago community in 1911 as a novice, making her first profession on July 26th, 1912, and her final profession on July 11th, 1916.
Sister Rita Cascia served as a "Martha" or house mistress at many of the community's parochial school convents. She died on September 22nd, 1954 at the age of 77, and is buried in the All Saints Cemetery in Desplaines, Illinois.
