Scope and Contents
This collection consists of biographical information and personal papers. Biographical information includes a photocopied baptismal certificate, a death certificate, a personal data sheet, ministry lists, a DePaul University diploma and convocation booklet, a certificate from the Theological Institute, Illinois teaching certificates, photographs, jubilee and funeral materials, and more.
Personal papers include teaching contracts, limited correspondence to, from, and about her, news clippings, and transcripts.

Sisters' papers are restricted for 50 years after the Sister's death. Photographs, previously published, and widely distributed materials are unrestricted.
Biographical / Historical
Sister Scholastica Hrusovsky (Roscoe), OSB was born Justina on September 18th, 1898 in Silver Park, Colorado to Czechoslovakian parents. One of fifteen total children, she is the youngest natural sister of Sr. Anthony and Sr. Stephanie, who also joined the community. Sister received her primary school education in a log cabin schoolhouse, before attending classes at St. Mary's in Pueblo. Her family also attended church in the Sacred Heart of Mary Church, built on the family's property. Sister entered the community on July 3rd, 1913, making her first vows on January 6th, 1916. She made her final vows on December 30th, 1919.
Sister Scholastica graduated from DePaul University,and later earned a certificate in theology from the Theological Institute Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado. She also attended a workshop in education at Adams State College in Colorado. Sister mainly served as a teacher in various parochial schools, including St. Scholastica Academy, St. Michael, and St. Joseph in Colorado, and St. Symphorosa, St. George, St. John's, St. Hilary's, and more in Illinois. She also taught summer education classes in Colorado. Besides teaching, Sister served as principal and superior, choir director, organist, and sacristan.
Following her retirement, Sister enjoyed crochetting articles for the benefit of church bazaars in Chicago and Colorado. She died on October 23rd, 1992 at the age of 94, and is buried in All Saints Cemetery in Desplaines, Illinois.
