Biographical / Historical
Sister Boniface Karl, OSB was born Marie on May 1st, 1846 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She entered the community on June 4th, 1866 and was invested on November 13th, 1867. She made her perpetual profession on February 10th, 1871 in Latin, which was witnessed by Mother Theresa Krug.
Little is known of Sister's life in religion. She may have taught in Saint Joseph Academy or Saint Joseph School in Chicago. She is said to have lost a "home" in the Chicago Fire of October, 1871.
Sister died at the age of 29 on January 4th, 1876, and is buried in Saint Boniface Cemetery.
