Biographical / Historical
Sister Theophila Keller, OSB was born Johanna Agnes on June 23rd, 1885 in Niederburen, Switzerland. She immigrated to the United States in 1905, joining the community on August 30th of that same year. Sister made her first vows on July 11th, 1907, and her final profession on July 11th, 1932.
Sister Theophila served the community as a housekeeper and cook, and was in charge of the altar bread department. She was known for her kindess, particularly to younger members of the community.
Sister died of meningitis on February 10th, 1939, while missioned to the Saint Hilary Convent. She was buried in Calvary Cemetery, Illinois.
