This collection contains limited biographical information. It includes a faxed copy of a personal data sheet from Saint Walburg Monastery, a community obituary, and biographical research notes and correspondence between Sister Vivian Ivantic of the Chicago community, Sister Evangelist of the Saint Joseph Monastery in St. Mary's, Pennsylvania, and Sister Betty Cahill from Saint Walburg Monastery in Kentucky. Correspondence and research notes in this collection consist of archival research inquiries between the three communities regarding the details of Sister's life, for which little is recorded.

Biographical / Historical

Sister Aloysia Gonzaga Konradi, OSB was born Anna Maria on February 18th, 1825 in Bechtelsheim, Diocese of Mainz (now Germany). In June of 1854, Sister entered the community at Saint Joseph Convent in St. Mary's, Pennsylvania. She was invested on December 28th, 1854, making her final profession on November 13th, 1862.

In August of 1861, Sister Aloysia Gonzaga was one of the three founding Sisters of the Chicago Benedictine community. As a lay sister, she was responsible for "internal ministries" at the new community, likely housekeeping and other essential domestic duties. Sister left Chicago in 1862 and travelled to the community at Erie, Pennsylvania.

Sister died on January 17th, 1895, at the Saint Scholastica Convent in Covington, Kentucky. She is buried there in Mother of God Cemetery.
