Sister Eusebia Kubick, OSB papers
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of a hanging file containing basic biographical information and limited personal papers. It includes a personal data sheet, next of kin information, a photocopy of her birth record (handwritten in Czech), community obituaries, a fragment of a letter describing the circumstances of her death, and photographs.
Personal papers include photocopies of news articles commemorating her 100th birthday and death, and letters written to her on her 100th birthday from the Archbishop of Chicago, Preisdent Richard Nixon, and Congressman Roman C. Pucinski. Two letters of condolence upon her death are also included, one sent from the White House, and another from her niece. Finally, a calligraphed sympathy note is included, containing the message, "In Memory of Reverend Father Charles, To Sister Eusebia, OSB."

Biographical / Historical
Sister Eusebia Kubick, OSB was born Agnes on December 20th, 1871, in Podmokl, Diocese of Prague, Bohemia (now Czech Republic). She entered the community on December 7th, 1888, making her first vows on December 31st, 1890, and her final profession on January 1st, 1894.
Sister served as a teacher for over 40 years in various parochial schools. She taught at Saint John Nepomucene School, Saint Mary School in Pueblo, Colorado, and Mother of God School in Waukegan, Illinois. After retiring from teaching, Sister kept busy working in the altar bread department. She was known for her humorous stories and impersonations.
Sister died shortly after her 100th birthday, on December 26th, 1971. She was the community's first centenarian, and is buried in All Saints Cemetery in Illinois.
