Scope and Contents
This collection consists of a hanging file containing biographical information. It includes a personal data sheet, biographical notes, a photocopied Latin vow sheet, community obituaries, photographs, and an annotated prayer card. Also included is archival research correspondence between community archivist Sister Vivian Ivantic, OSB and Sister Florentine's great niece.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Florentine Kuemmert, OSB was born Margaret on November 19th, 1858 in Baltimore, Maryland to Bavarian parents. She was a member of Fourteen Holy Martyrs Parish where her father served as sexton. Sister entered the community on June 13th, 1878. She made her first vows on February 26th, 1880, and her final profession in Latin on February 26th, 1883.
Sister served primarily as a music instructor, teaching harp, violin, and chorus at various parochial schools. She taught at SS Benedict and Saint Scholastica Academy in Chicago, Illinois, the Academy of Saint Scholastica in Canon City, Colorado, Saint Mary School in Pueblo, Colorado, and Saint Michael School in Delta, Colorado. She also served as the Directress and superior of Saint Michael School in 1923.
Sister died on March 4th, 1945, at the age of 86. She is buried in Saint Boniface Cemetery, Chicago.
