Scope and Contents

This collection consists of limited biographical information. It includes community obituaries, a personal data sheet, notes containing recollections of Sister and biographical details, autographed and annotated prayer cards, and photocopied German language vow forms. A photocopy of a page from the community publication "Our Community," gives a description of Sister's handmade scrapbooks, which unfortunately cannot be located. This collection also includes photographs, but whether or not the photographs are of Sister Adalberta is uncertain.

Biographical / Historical

Sister Adalberta Kuhn, OSB was born Anna on November 7th, 1853, in Bieschwind, Bavaria (now Germany). She entered the community on June 28th, 1880, making her first vows on February 10th, 1882. She made her final profession three years later, on February 10th, 1885.

Little is known of Sister's life in religion, although her primary service was likely as a cook. Sister Geraldine Stock remembers Sister Adalberta washing, starching, and ironing her pianfore in the fourth grade after she had dirtied it falling on the ice.

Sister died on February 25th, 1937 at the age of 84. She is buried in Saint Boniface Cemetery.
