Sister Hilda Kukar, OSB papers
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of biographical information and limited personal papers. It includes basic information and documents such as ministry lists, community obituaries, short biographical notes, jubilee and funeral materials, next of kin information, official certificates of teaching, birth, and baptism, and photographs.
This collection also contains material representing Sister's devotion to music and her Slovenian hertiage. For example, the biographical information series includes her collection of Slovenian sheet music. Sister was not the first musician or organist in her family; her mother, Agnes Kukar, was the first organist and choir director for the Mother of God Parish church. The "Agnes Kukar" series contains a letter from Agnes to Sister Vivian Ivantic after her daughter's death, as well as a history she wrote of Mother of God Parish. Finally, a series including Sister's academic transcripts and certificates speaks to her long-standing commitment to education, both as an instructor and student.
