This collection contains basic biographical information and personal papers. Biographical information includes a personal data sheet, photographs, jubilee materials, ministry lists, and teaching certifications.
Personal papers represent Sister's personal and professional relationships, her ministries, and her role in community governance and formation. They include academic transcripts, correspondence, honors and certificates, news articles, family materials, and materials from her roles as Subprioress, Exective Director of the Cudahy Fund, and the Directress of the Formation Team.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Judith Borchers, OSB was born Judith Lee on August 18th, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana. After graduating from Saint Scholastica High School Chicago, she entered the community on September 12th, 1958. She was invested on July 11th, 1959, taking the name Sister Judine in religion. Sister made her first profession on August 16th, 1960, and her final vows on August 16th, 1965. Following Vatican II, Sister returned to her baptismal name, becoming Sister Judith.
After graduating from Saint Scholastica High School, Sister was awarded a Bachelor of Science from Mundelein College in 1965, a Master of Science from Purdue University in 1970, and a Master of Pastoral Studies from Loyola University in 1985. She continued her education throughout her life, taking graduate courses in Educational Administration at DePaul University, and participating in a nine month training program for spiritual directors from the Institute for Spiritual Leadership in Chicago.
From 1963 to 1972, Sister taught in Queen of All Saints School and Saint Scholastica High School Chicago, primarily in the chemistry, math, and theology departments. In 1972, she became the principal of Saint Scholastica High School, where she served until 1980. As principal, Sister implemented a program of academic advising, established the positions of campus minister and school social worker, and developed a faculty senate as well as a grievance policy. From 1985-1989, she was employed as an associate chaplain at Loyola University, before being appointed as the executive director of the Patrick and Anna M. Cudahy Fund, a philanthropic foundation supporting nonprofits.
In community, Sister Judith participated on several different commissions and committees, most notably as the Directress of the Formation Team. She also served as the appointed subprioress, beginning in 1996.
Sister Judith left the community in 2004.
