Scope and Contents

This collection contains biographical material, including a personal data sheet, vow formula, next of kin lists, ministry listings, professional credentials, worship aids, obituaries and prayer cards. There is also a collection of photographs from her First Communion through her life in community. Other series include news articles from the press and from within the community, transcripts and diplomas from high school, college, and continuing education, as well as a small set of letters and cards.

This handwritten copy of Sr. Amy Campbell, OSB's vow formula was rolled and saved in a box with her myrtle crown.

Monastery records are restricted for 50 years after creation. Sisters' papers are restricted for 50 years after the Sister's death. Photographs, previously published, and widely distributed materials are unrestricted.

Biographical / Historical

Sr. Amy Campbell, OSB was born in Denver, Colorado on June 6, 1920. She entered the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago on September 7, 1938. She professed her final vows in 1943. Sr. Amy Campbell, OSB had a long career in education, teaching at St. Hilary School, St. George School, Mother of God School, St. John Nepomucene School in Chicago and at St. Leander School and St. Mary School in Pueblo. In 1979, Sr. Amy established a pre-school at St. Scholastica Academy in Cañon City which flourished for 10 years. Besides serving as a teacher in the middle and primary grades, Sr. Amy Campbell served as principal and superior at a number of parishes. She was a key person to form an alumnae association for St. Scholastica Academy in Cañon City where she also organized a centennial celebration. When she returned to the monastery, she assisted in the business office and filled in wherever she was needed. She died on February 27, 2020 and is buried at All Saints Cemetery.
