Biographical / Historical
Sister Benita Cunningham, OSB was born in Pennsylvania on May 5, 1905. She entered the Benedictine Sisters in June, 1928. She professed temporary vows in August 1930 and professed final vows in August 1933. She taught on the elementary and secondary levels. She taught biology and mathematics at St. Scholastica High School in Chicago. Sister Benita was highly respected and much loved by her students. She was also in charge of the Aspirants from 1937-1942. Sister Benita died at a young age of 43 on May 26, 1948. She is buried at Calvary Cemetery. A younger sister, Grace (Sister Joanna) followed her to the Benedictine family.
