This collection includes personal prayer cards, jubilee prayer cards, obituary notifications, obituary written by the prioress, teaching ministry lists, parish bulletin from St. Symphorosa. Included also are four photographs.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Bernardine Artz, OSB was born in Holland in 1874. She entered the Sisters of St. Walburga in New Jersey. She came to Chicago as a Scholastic and made perpetual vows on September 3, 1904. She taught at the following schools: St. George, St. Joseph, St. Symphorosa, St. Scholastica High School in Chicago and St. Michaels in Canon City, Colorado. Sister Bernardine was considered the first principal of St. Symphorosa as she began her tenure there in 1928. Sister Bernardine finished 59 years of faithful service as a Benedictine Sister. Although she suffered a great deal and for a long time, Sister Bernardine was confined to bed for only three weeks when she died peacefully on March 13, 1953 at the age of 78. She is buried in All Saints Cemetery.
