Biographical / Historical
Sister Thecla Ayd, OSB was born in Baltimore Maryland in 1859. She was the niece of the first elected prioress Mother Theresa Krug, OSB. She entered the Benedictine Sisters on May 1, 1874, received the habit on December 8, 1874, and professed her temporary vows on December 21, 1875. Perpetual vows were professed at St. Scholastica Convent in Nauvoo on July 11, 1878. Sister Thecla Ayd, OSB died on August 11, 1878 at the age of 21. She requested that she be buried in Nauvoo. Her short ministry with students included teaching German, darning, and supervised letter writing.
