Biographical / Historical

Sister Hedwig (Marie) Bauer, OSB was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1857. She entered the Benedictine Community at the age of 21 on August, 1878. She was invested in February 1879. She made temporary vows in February, 1880. She died presumably of tuberculosis on April 29, 1883. She died at the age of 25 only 5 years after entering the Benedictine Community. She is buried in St. Boniface Cemetery in Chicago. She served the community in a quiet and prayerful manner.
