Biographical / Historical
Sister Columba Beary, OSB was born in Ireland in 1905. She and her natural sister (Sister Blanche Beary, OSB) worked as domestics in the United States before they both entered the Benedictine Community in August of 1927. Sister Columba was finally professed in August, 1932. Sister celebrated her silver jubilee in 1954. Sister taught on the elementary school level, usually in the primary grades. She was stationed at several Catholic elementary schools in Chicago and in Colorado, as well as, teaching at vacation schools in the summer. Sister Columba died suddenly of a heart attack in 1972 at the age of 67. She is buried at All Saints Cemetaery near her sister.
