Biographical / Historical

Sister Elizabeth Hoffman, OSB (Sister Anastasia, "Betty") was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 25, 1924. She was a young aspirant at Saint Scholastica High School and entered the community as a postulant on September 8, 1942. She then went on to be a teacher of primary grades at: Saint Hilary, Queen of All Saints, Mother of God, Saint Joseph in Chicago, Sacred Heart in Tucson, Saint George, Saint John Nepomucene, Saint Lambert, and Saints George and Cecilia Schools. She was also a director at Camp San Benito located in Colorado. In between her time as an educator she served (at her request) in the kitchen at the Motherhouse. On August 1972, Sister Elizabeth Hoffman signed the dispensation from her religious vows. She was in contact with the community until her last days. She died on June 16, 2007.
