This collection includes a personal data sheet, vows written in Latin and German, an extensive written history of her life for her golden jubilee, prayer cards, obituaries, newspaper death notice, photographs, various materials and notations relating to the beginning of St. Scholastica Academy in Canon City, Colorado.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Rose Brehm, OSB (Barbara Brehm) was born in Bavaria in 1849. She entered the Benedictine Community in October, 1867. She professed triennial vows in September, 1869; perpetual vows in September 1872. She celebrated her silver jubilee in 1897, her golden jubilee in November 1919, and her diamond jubilee in July 1929. She served in many capacities as teacher, superior, and directress, as well as, serving in many places - Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Maryland and Colorado. She acquired the property of a military academy which became St. Scholastica Academy in Canon City, Colorado. After a difficult start, she was able to get the appropriate funding for the Academy which began in 1893. Sister Rose Brehm, OSB died at the age of 80 and is buried in Calvery Cemetery.
