Alamosa, Colo., 1937 - 1991
This sub-series is primarily comprised of lists of Sisters who taught vacation schools in Alamosa, Colorado. The Benedictine Sisters of Chicago had a large presence in the town, especially earlier in the 20th century. A pamphlet about the history of the Sacred Heart Church, a copy of some pages from "Our Community," and an Archives Newsletter are also included.
Calcite, Colo., 1962
This sub-series contains a couple papers with information concerning the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago's vacation schools in Calcite, Colorado. Sisters began teaching in the town in the mid-1920s, but had left by the end of the decade. Also included is a special edition of the Canon City Daily Record from 1962 celebrating the municipality's centennial.
Gilman, Colo., 1982
This sub-series lists Sr. Pancratia Yede, OSB, as the only Sister to teach a vacation school in Gilman, Colorado, although what year she was stationed there is unknown. Two images of the town are also included: the first is a squarte-format color print taken in 1982, and the second is a black-and-white image that appears older.
Minturn, Colo., 1952 - 2007
This sub-series contains many photos and several news clippings relating to vacation schools the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago taught in Minturn, Colorado, from the late 1930s to late 1970s. Most material was produced during the 1950s.
Pueblo, Colo., 1959
This sub-series is mostly comprised of papers listing Sisters who taught vacation schools in Pueblo, Colorado. The only other material included is a 1959 news clipping mentioning Sr. Walburg Matern, OSB.
Red Cliff, Colo., 1956 - 1989
This series is mostly comprised of photographs of Red Cliff, Colorado, and the vacation schools Sisters taught there. Also included are some images from a 1989 archives trip to Colorado and a list of Sisters who worked in the town from 1952 to 1977.
Rocky Ford, Colo., 1937 - 1942
This sub-series contains an archives note listing the Sisters who taught vacation schools in Rocky Ford, Colorado, along with a couple news clippings of events relating to the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago's presence in the town. Also included is a photograph of several pupils from one summer, although the year is unknown, and it appears they do not comprise the whole class, as there are more children cut off on the right left side of the frame.
Salida, Colo., 1937
This sub-series is relatively slim considering the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago spent over half the 20th century teaching vacation schools in Salida, Colorado. Beyond a list of Sisters who ran the town's summer schools of religion, the only material included is a page from "Our Community" that briefly mentions Salida and a map highlighting the town's location.
Stoneham, Colo., 1937
This sub-series contains a list of the three Sisters who taught vacation schools in Stoneham, Colorado, during the summers of 1936 and 1936. According to Sr. Pancratoa Yede, OSB, the town was very poor and plagued by drought during her time there. A page from "Our Community" containing two paragraphs about Stoneham is also included, and may suggest another vacation school was taught in the town during the summer of 1937.
Vail, Colo., 1972 - 1989
Besides several archival notes about which Sisters taught vacation schools in Vail, Colorado, and students who commuted from Vail to Minturn, Colorado, this sub-series is comprised of many postcards highlighting the area's gorgeous scenery.
