Alamosa, Colo., 1937 - 1991
This sub-series is primarily comprised of lists of Sisters who taught vacation schools in Alamosa, Colorado. The Benedictine Sisters of Chicago had a large presence in the town, especially earlier in the 20th century. A pamphlet about the history of the Sacred Heart Church, a copy of some pages from "Our Community," and an Archives Newsletter are also included.
Coal Creek, Colo., 1933 - 1955
This sub-series is comprised of a couple papers listing the Sisters who ran summer schools of religion in Coal Creek, Colorado, along with the years they worked. The 28 students who attended the 1933 vacation school taught by Sr. Leona Schmitt, OSB, appear in two photographs. Also included is "The Gleanor," an article from an unnamed publication on the coal mines surrounding CaƱon City, Colorado, which includes a description of Coal Creek prior to a 1907 fire that wrecked the town.
Delta, Colo.
This slim sub-series contains nothing more than a sheet of paper listing Sisters who taught at vacation schools in Delta, Colorado, where the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago were stationed from 1950 until 1974. In addition to summer schools of religion, some Sisters also worked at St. Michael School.
Lamar, Colo., 1936 - 1937
This sub-series begins with a document listing the Sisters who taught summer schools of religion in Lamar, Colorado, from the late 1920s to the mid-1940s. Three small photographs of pupils, Sisters, and prists taken in 1936 and 1937 are also included, along with a map highlighting the town on a map of the region.
Ordway, Colo.
