Delta, Colo.
This slim sub-series contains nothing more than a sheet of paper listing Sisters who taught at vacation schools in Delta, Colorado, where the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago were stationed from 1950 until 1974. In addition to summer schools of religion, some Sisters also worked at St. Michael School.
Las Animas, Colo., 1937 - 1967
This sub-series contains a long list of Sisters who taught vacation schools in Las Animas, Colorado, for over 30 years. Several documents relate to St. Mary Church, including a postcard of the exterior, a print of the interior, a pamphlet about the history of the parish, and a news article from the Southern Colorado Register that mentions the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago. A postcard from Leadville, Colorado, is also included, but the reason is unclear.
Montrose, Colo., 1968 - 1990
This sub-series is comprised of several maps highlighting the location of Montrose, Colorado, along with a pamphlet from St. Mary Church's 75th anniversary celebration and a 1968 Dateline Colorado story about vacation schools in the state.
Oblate Newsletters collection
Oblate Newsletters of Sister Joan Hentges, OSB, 2009-2013
Oblate Oral History Project papers, Spring 2017
These oral histories were conducted by students in the Doing Local and Community History course. They were featured in the posters at the Testimonial Dinner of June 2017. This set includes Sr. Benita Coffey, OSB; Sr. Joan Hentges, OSB; Carol and Paul Brimstin; Michael Garcia, OP; Dorothy Andries; Currency (Penny) Kerndt; Emily Hartman; Patty Ballard.
Olathe, Colo., 1944
This sub-series contains a list of Sisters who taught vacation schools in Olathe, Colorado, and an image of a Sister standing alongside eight pupils. The back of the print lists the year as 1944, although there is no evidence the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago were present in the town until two decades later. There is a good chance this photograph was taken later than listed or was captured in a separate town.
Ouray, Colo., 1959 - 1990
Salida, Colo., 1937
This sub-series is relatively slim considering the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago spent over half the 20th century teaching vacation schools in Salida, Colorado. Beyond a list of Sisters who ran the town's summer schools of religion, the only material included is a page from "Our Community" that briefly mentions Salida and a map highlighting the town's location.
Silverton, Colo., 1962 - 1993
This sub-series contains a list of Sisters who taught in Silverton, Colorado, along with several newsclippings, mostly regarding St. Patrick Church. A pamphlet from the parish's centennial celebration is also included.
