Scope and Contents
This series begins with a photograph of Mother Nepomucene Ludwig from around 1870. It inludes basic information from her obituary, personal data, and a few notes about her life. There is also a photograph of the monument erected in St. Marys, Pennysylvania at the closing of St. Joseph Monastery, the first community of Benedictine women in the United States. That was Mother Nepomucene's home base (where she was known as Sister Nepomucene) and from where she was sent out to shepard fledgling foundations in New Jersey, Illinois, and Virginia.
