Biographical / Historical

Sacred Heart Parish began in 1939 as a mission church in Tucson, Arizona. In 1944, Rev. Arthur Kerr established a school for the parish and requested the help of the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago. From 1944-1959, the Sisters taught at Sacred Heart School until they coud no longer provide the necessary staffing and returned to Chicago. In response to the growing community, a second church was completed in 1955, and the parish celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1992.
