Scope and Contents The Benedictine Sisters of Chicago ran two vacation schools in Dolores, Colorado. The first was taught by Sr. Maurus Becker, OSB, and Sr. Anthony Hrusovsky, OSB, who had to drive 40 miles to the town; the second by Sr. Perpetua Guenther, OSB, but the year of this session is unknown. It may have been in 1936, as one photograph suggests. Two more images are included: one of Sr. Anthony Hrusovsky, OSB, a priest, and their pupils, along with a more recent picture of Our Lady of Victory...

This manual was published in three volumes: A Course of Study for Grades I and II; A Course of Study for Grades III, IV, and V; and A Course of Study for Grades VI, VII, and VIII. It was originally published in 1942 by the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine and updated in 1953. The autor is Sister M. Rosalia, M.H.S.H.

Scope and Contents This anonymous, handwritten poem was found with the Summer Vacation Schools materials. It extoles the beuaty and excitement of Colorado and encourages people to come experience it for themselves. It was written in 1959, the centennial of Colorado statehood. Many Sisters enjoyed traveling to Colorado by train and in the days before vacations, going out to teach summer school gave Sisters a change of scene and the chance to beautiful experience new places with welcoming families.
