Sister Alma Zakel's battenberg lace making pillow, 1917-1964
Pillow consists of a basket wrapped in blue satin fabric, stuffed with tissue and extra fabric; the pillow wrapped in blue satin fabric and covered with a 1942 newspaper with the lace pattern affixed with small nails; the pillow has the lace bobbins affixed to it, with the linen thread still spooled, likely from Sister's last project. The basket is filled with extra satin fabric pieces and stuffed with tissue paper likely as a support measure.
