Scope and Contents

This sub-series is primarily comprised of lists of Sisters who taught vacation schools in Alamosa, Colorado. The Benedictine Sisters of Chicago had a large presence in the town, especially earlier in the 20th century. A pamphlet about the history of the Sacred Heart Church, a copy of some pages from "Our Community," and an Archives Newsletter are also included.

Scope and Contents

All this sub-series contains is a short list of which Sisters led summer schools of religion in Craig, Colorado, along with which years they taught sessions between when they first entered the town in 1937 and when they finally left in 1973. Also included is a map highlighting where Craig is located in Colorado.

Scope and Contents This sub-series contains a sheet of oral history stories from the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago's time in Crested Butte, Colorado. Originally St. Patrick Church, Sisters would later run vacation schools out of Queen of All Saints. The latter's architecture was beautiful enough to warrent a story in the Southern Colorado Register, which is also included. This sub-series contains a long list of Sisters who taught vacation schools in Las Animas, Colorado, for over 30 years. Several documents relate to St. Mary Church, including a postcard of the exterior, a print of the interior, a pamphlet about the history of the parish, and a news article from the Southern Colorado Register that mentions the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago. A postcard from Leadville, Colorado, is also included, but the reason is unclear.

The only paper in this sub-series lists the Sisters who taught in Oak Creek, Colorado, along with the summers they were stationed there throughout the 1970s and early 1980s. Some background on what brought the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago to the town, along with some anecdotes from the community's time there are also included.

Besides a list of Sisters who taught vacation schools in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, this sub-series includes a euology to Holy Name Church's Fr. Frank Ciaptacz, who died in 1982, an obituary for one of his predecessors, Fr. Joseph Leberer, who died four years later in 1986, and a couple photos from the area.
