Crested Butte, Colo., 1937 - 1992

 Sub-Series — Box: OSBCHI-C-100-1, Folder: 20

Scope and Contents

This sub-series contains a sheet of oral history stories from the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago's time in Crested Butte, Colorado. Originally St. Patrick Church, Sisters would later run vacation schools out of Queen of All Saints. The latter's architecture was beautiful enough to warrent a story in the Southern Colorado Register, which is also included. A photograph of two Sisters, a priest, and several children are believed to be from Crested Butte's 1937 session. Some undated, square pictures from Sr. Bernice Godec, OSB, detail some small classes, along with the town. Even more images come from an archives trip Sr. Vivian Ivantic, OSB, and Sr. Eleanore Hillenbrand, OSB, took to Colorado in 1991.
