This manual was published in three volumes: A Course of Study for Grades I and II; A Course of Study for Grades III, IV, and V; and A Course of Study for Grades VI, VII, and VIII. It was originally published in 1942 by the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine and updated in 1953. The autor is Sister M. Rosalia, M.H.S.H.

Scope and Contents This anonymous, handwritten poem was found with the Summer Vacation Schools materials. It extoles the beuaty and excitement of Colorado and encourages people to come experience it for themselves. It was written in 1959, the centennial of Colorado statehood. Many Sisters enjoyed traveling to Colorado by train and in the days before vacations, going out to teach summer school gave Sisters a change of scene and the chance to beautiful experience new places with welcoming families. This series contains four Archives Newsletters published in 2007 explaining the history of the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago's vacation schools in Illinois, Arizona, and Colorado. Each town is listed, along with its parish, and which Sisters worked where when. A seperate document lists about how many pupils attended each summer school. Also included are some maps highlighting where Sisters worked in the region.

This sub-series is primarily comprised of lists of Sisters who taught vacation schools in Alamosa, Colorado. The Benedictine Sisters of Chicago had a large presence in the town, especially earlier in the 20th century. A pamphlet about the history of the Sacred Heart Church, a copy of some pages from "Our Community," and an Archives Newsletter are also included.

This thin sub-series contains an archive note describing which Sisters taught vacation schools in Alta Vista, Colorado, from 1940 to an unknown point in the 1950s. A passage from "Our Community" is included as a supplement beneath the section for 1942. It explains where Sr. Walburg Mater, OSB, and Sr. Gabrielle Pierik, OSB, taught in the town.
