 Sub-Series — Box OSBCHI-C-100-1, Folder: 3
Scope and Contents

This sub-series is primarily comprised of lists of Sisters who taught vacation schools in Alamosa, Colorado. The Benedictine Sisters of Chicago had a large presence in the town, especially earlier in the 20th century. A pamphlet about the history of the Sacred Heart Church, a copy of some pages from "Our Community," and an Archives Newsletter are also included.

Dates: 1937 - 1991

Brookside, Colo., 1929 - 1991

 Sub-Series — Box OSBCHI-C-100-1, Folder: 10
Scope and Contents Sister Vivian Ivantic, OSB compiled a list of Sisters who taught weekday, Sunday, and summer classes at St. Anthony Church. She included pages on the parish history taken from the 60th anniversary book of St. Michael Church, Cañon City, Colorado. There is a brief note from Sister Eleanore Hillenbrand, OSB regarding her experience, a data sheet prepared for the 1965 Visitation of St. Scholastica Monastery, part of an Our Community article by Sister Aloysia Ripperger, OSB referencing problems...
Dates: 1929 - 1991

Cañon City, Colo., 1929

 Sub-Series — Box OSBCHI-C-100-1, Folder: 14
Scope and Contents

This sub-series details the summer schools of religion run by the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago at various instituions in Cañon City, Colorado, from 1929 to 1965. Sections from a June, 1929 entry of the "Cathechists' Corner," written by Sr. Scholastica Hrusovsky, OSB, describe the earliest days of the city's vacation schools from a first-hand account.

Dates: 1929

Florence, Colo., 1991

 Sub-Series — Box OSBCHI-C-100-1, Folder: 29
Scope and Contents

Despite the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago's 40-year presence in Florence, Colorado, this sub-series is relatively slim. Beyond a two-page list of Sisters who taught vacation schools in the town, the only other material included are two images of a statue of St. Benedict taken outside St. Benedict Church during a 1991 archive trip to Colorado.

Dates: 1991

La Junta, Colo., 1941

 Sub-Series — Box OSBCHI-C-100-1, Folder: 37
Scope and Contents

This sub-series contains a list of Sisters who taught vacation schools in La Junta, Colorado, from the 1930s to the 1940s. It is unclear what years some Sisters were in the town, so there may have been schools into the 1950s. An image of Sr. Anita Sheid, OSB, standing outside with a priest and several pupils appears alongside postcards of a scout troop nicknamed the "Koshare Indian Dancers," and a short book detailing the history of the Church in La Junta from 1885 to 1986.

Dates: 1941

Lafayette, Colo., 1989

 Sub-Series — Box OSBCHI-C-100-1, Folder: 36
Scope and Contents

This sub-series contains a slip of paper listing several Sisters who taught vacation schools in Lafayette, Colorado, during the 1940s and 1950s. Also included are a couple photographs from that period and a couple more from a 1989 archives trip to Colorado.

Dates: 1989

Louisville, Colo., 1989

 Sub-Series — Box OSBCHI-C-100-1, Folder: 40
Scope and Contents

This sub-series is relatively thick when compared to how little is known about the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago's time in Louisville, Colorado. A paper lists four Sisters who taught two vacation schools, but the years of each are unknown. Also included is a multi-page document about Catholicism in the region, which mentions Louisville, and the catalog for a set of negatives shot during a 1989 archives trip to Colorado.

Dates: 1989

Dates: 1952 - 2007

Salida, Colo., 1937

 Sub-Series — Box OSBCHI-C-100-2, Folder: 13
Scope and Contents

This sub-series is relatively slim considering the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago spent over half the 20th century teaching vacation schools in Salida, Colorado. Beyond a list of Sisters who ran the town's summer schools of religion, the only material included is a page from "Our Community" that briefly mentions Salida and a map highlighting the town's location.

Dates: 1937

Several news clippings relating to Our Lady of the Assumption appear next, including a 1945 story from The Southern Colorado Register about the summer school of religion. Some other documents revolve around the parish's establishment and how the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago became involved. Westcliffe is where the community taught its first vacation school...
