Scope and Contents From the Series: This series contains devotional objects used by Sister Benigna Bacherle, OSB during her life as a Benedictine Sister. It includes a watercolor painting of the Madonna and Child in an Alpine household setting; this painting was the work of Karl Schmid, a monastery employee and co-worker of Sister Benigna, who also carved a wooden frame for a photograph of Pope John Paul II as gifts for her. This collection includes prayer cards and folders in English and German, most are undated. Some prayer cards bear inscriptions and one is from when Sister Benigna sponsored an African child through the Saint Scholastica High School Sodality in 1932. Another is a small newspaper clipping representing Our Lady of the Chickens.
