Collection of Kennedy family materials
The bulk of this collection consists of magazine articles, dedicated issues, and memorial books about the Kennedy family and their intersection with American politics in the 1960s. There is a 3-page letter from Sister Barbara McCarry, OSB to her Benedictine Sisters in the Fall of 1960 outlining JFK's platform to encourage their participation in the upcoming election. Early materials in this collection are two family photographs from about 1946 and a 1960 photograph from her dorm room at Mount Saint Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas, featuring a JFK campaign poster. The collection includes biographical information as well as material related to her vocation as an educator and her entusiasm for literacy. Sister Barbara saved some of her correpondence with community members, friends, and public figures.
